Welcome.
Speaker A
It is Thursday, which means it's podcasting Q and a day, or podcasting tip day.
Speaker A
And today I'm going to throw a tip to you in hopes of saving a podcaster, a listener.
Speaker A
And here's where I'm going to start today.
Speaker A
Quick short, to the point.
Speaker A
If you are not hiring an editor to help you with your podcast and you're using an auto editor like descript or some other AI tool that goes through, and you can easily run an editing software over your audio, this is for you.
Speaker A
Stop it, please.
Speaker A
For the love, go listen to your episode.
Speaker A
If you are doing a software that does an automatic edit over your episode like descript, no hate on descript.
Speaker A
But if you're just manu or automatically using that tool and not going back and listening to your episode, you might be losing listeners.
Speaker A
And here's a reason is when audio gets clipped, so what something like descript does is it goes through automatically and it takes out any kind of breaths or in between pauses, in between words.
Speaker A
And what it does is cuts off the end of your words.
Speaker A
So when you start listening to your podcast and you notice that half of your words are missing, that's gonna be a problem for a listener.
Speaker A
This is happening to me.
Speaker A
I have a very awesome brand new podcast that I love listening to.
Speaker A
I could binge listen to it and I wanna share it, but the audio quality, because it's this auto, I know exactly right away that they are using descript and they have not listened to their episodes since using this automated editor.
Speaker A
And, oh, and it's not just me.
Speaker A
I actually reached out to a friend that was listening to the same podcast and she said, I can't listen to the show anymore, it's too annoying.
Speaker A
So my friend, here's two lessons for you.
Speaker A
If you're using an automated editor, make sure you go back and you listen to your episodes.
Speaker A
To make sure that the editing sounds okay.
Speaker A
You need to either tighten it up or you need to loosen it just a bit.
Speaker A
But the key here, the second thing is, go back and listen to your episodes.
Speaker A
Every now and then, go back and check and listen and make sure that everything sounds good.
Speaker A
Because in this day and age, your sound matters.
Speaker A
So get a good mic, get a great editor, and if you're going to do an auto edit, make sure you go back and listen and make sure it sounds good.
Speaker A
That's it for podcasting.
Speaker A
Tip Thursday.
Speaker A
See you next week.
